Our Memory: Werner Park Celebration

Bill LaHood

Bill LaHood checked himself out of the hospital to attend a celebration at Werner Park with friends and family. The original plan was to send Bill and his sons, Shawn and Ryan, to Spring Training in Arizona but as time progressed the LaHood’s agreed that staying closer to home was the best decision.

Memories for Kids presented the sons with: personalized Alex Gordon bats, a Strike Zone membership, tickets to the KC Royals and College World Series and a framed Derek Jeter jersey. The Storm Chasers also presented the family with a check for Ryan’s select baseball team fees and much more.  Following the gift presentations everyone was invited to go to the Storm Chasers indoor batting cage to watch Shawn and Ryan practice with the professionals. The group returned to the locker room for a baseball lunch.

This became even more special as Bill’s life ended just days five days following the event.

“Thank you so much for all the kindness you and your entire staff have shown to our family.  The memories that you shared with us have deeply touched us all.”  The LaHood Family

Bill LaHood lost his battle with cancer on March 1, 2012 at the age of 48.
